Setup HISD Email on Mobile Devices
These directions are general. Refer to the documentation that came with your device.
- HISD uses Microsoft Exchange for their email system; make sure you select that option.
- Username: enter the one you use to login to your school computer
- Password: enter the one you use to login to your school computer
- Domain: AD
- Note: some devices will ask for the domain and username together; i.e. AD\username
- Mail Server: mail.houstonisd.org
- SSL: yes
- The new software can be download from the website using the installer passcode. To locate this code, send an email to your campus tech lead.
- Install the notebook from www.smarttech.com
- Under the tab Teachers Download, enter the key provided.
- Select your version (If you are unaware of the version your school has, contact your tech lead)
- Confirm your Operating System. All of the machines on campus are running Windows.
- Select Notebook Installer
- Fill out the required information
- Select Download.
- When it prompts you to select the software to install, select everything ("SMART Notebook," "SMART Drivers," "SMART Ink," and "SMART Response")
- Computer is on, but no image on the monitor or projector? Check power cords and other cables connecting to the computer.
- Computer/monitor will not turn on? Check power cords, power strips, power outlets or the power button on monitor.
- Computer freezes? Force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button until it shuts down.
- Mailbox full? Archive older messages and empty deleted items folder.
